Who am I?

C.A_edited.jpg

Well, to start, you know me as C.A. Blooming, but to most people, I'm simply Courtney.

In my daily life, I am a wife of 13 years and mother to three wonderful kiddos. I am a born and raised Utahn (yes, I do drink 'dirty sodas') with a wanderlust heart. My favorite place on earth is the Loire Valley in France, and I would move there immediately if I ever had the opportunity.

If you can make me laugh, I will fold like a piece of paper. If you bring me coffee, I will be at your beck and call (with obvious limits). I'm chaos incarnate and an introvert somehow doing extroverted careers. My day job is in customer success, but I have the goal and the hope of making this author stuff my full-time job.

My Writing Journey

I have been a lifelong reader, finding escapism and safety in the pages of books. But when I had my first child at nineteen, I found myself taking an unexpected 10-year reading break. Then, after a sudden loss in our family, I returned to the comfort of books.

Throughout the first half of 2023, I consumed as many books as I could—fantasy books, to be exact. Once again, I found a way to navigate the heavy emotions and reality of life through fantastical stories. I read about vampires, fae, gods, and mermaids. But this time, I read the adult versions of the mythical creatures I've always loved.

To be candid, I never imagined myself as an author. I always described myself as "strictly a reader." The concept of writing any kind of stories like the ones I adored was about as foreign to me as attempting to speak Latin. Was I a near-dissociative daydreamer? Yes. Did I realize that meant I always had stories in my head but had never explored making them a reality? Never in my wildest dreams.

And so, one hyper-focused daydream I spiraled over during my daily commute turned into me sitting down on a random weekday in 2023. And that decision led to me putting that story into words on a Google Document. One random choice turned into a 190k-word manuscript written in three-and-a-half weeks, and thus, Threads of Fate was born. Which, in turn, effectively changed my life forever.

Since then, I have gone on to plot out far too many books than I'm willing to admit and write three additional stories. I've created an 11-book intermingling multiverse spread across 3 book series. I've broken and repaired readers' hearts with stories about mental health, healing, grief, and jaw-dropping cliffhangers.

It's been the most humbling, rewarding, and hardest journey of my life. But I genuinely cannot imagine ever going back to who I was before.

If you've made it this far, thank you.

I'm here for the long run. I'm ready to continue to break your hearts. And I cannot wait to see what the future holds.

- Courtney ❤️
